If acceleration is detected the new system will automatically apply the brakes to slow the vehicle down to the desired speed. Hill Start Assist is another new feature on the 2008 Jeep Commander. With this feature the automobile is held in place for two seconds after the brakes are released on a hill. This gives the driver enough time to move the vehicle without rolling down the hill.
